Goals for the Week... Until October 5th

Is it really already October!?!?!? WOW!!!! We only have three more weeks until the Prayer Room HAS to be finished, but we are aiming for the end of next week. The carpet will be going in any day after Friday of this week... Loads to do!!!!

1) Finish the sanding of the chairs after taking the sander for exchange.

2) Paint the ceiling and the walls of the prayer room.

3) Finish sewing the curtains which I was able to start while the boys were gone... at least got them laid out and started...

Love how they look in the window!!! And they only costed me $2 for the whole thing because the lace was at the Habitat for Humanity store, and the blue sheer and the brown was given to me!!! Thanks, April!!!

4) Finish the blue and white paint for "Knock and it shall be opened".
5) Trace up "Seek and ye shall find."
6) Get the drawer pulls onto the dresser. Find screws for the three pulls without one.
7)  Look for pallets for tables.
8) Last but not least, finish homeschool all week and keep the house in decent shape. along with getting some more THM read.

See you next week!!!! Hopefully on Sunday this time!!

God Answers Prayer... He's so Good to Me!!!!!

There have been so many little, seemingly insignificant prayers of mine that I have watched God answer.  Stupid things... parking spaces, rain stopping so I can bring in groceries, little boys going to sleep so I could get in the shower.  This week I got to see my great big God do something silly and unimportant to anyone but me... again.  I'll explain in a minute...

This week was a little hectic, and I realized that my blog address on all my pictures was wrong.... you know you're crazy when you don't even know your own blog. I had to take time to fix all the pictures!!!

So, my goals for this last week were to practice the piano... which I actually did, 5 days of the week!! To use my brain every day.... which I failed miserably at. Finish school every day... which I did (Yay!!).

I also had to finish off the chairs for the Prayer Room. Here is where my blessing kicked in. Okay, we remember the old ugly covered chairs, right??

They were dining room chairs, so I wanted to add some padding to make them look more like parlor chairs, and less like re-purposed dining chairs. The only problem with that was, I didn't have quilt batting, so the padding would stay put and not get lumpy... or the money to buy said batting. I actually only had a few old pillows to use the stuffing from. One of the pillows, my mother-in-law had given me about seven years ago when my middle Joe Bob was moving from a crib to a bed.... it happened to be the one I cut open to grab the stuffing from.  Wouldn't you know it, the pillow was made of quilt batting that was wrapped round and round itself????  God knew SEVEN YEARS AGO that I would need quilt batting this week, and He supplied my need!!!!! And here they are:

Well, one of them. I did both, but only took the picture of this one. God also answered a prayer in that He had the Joe Bobs go on a church camping trip with their Daddy, giving me a very late night to do this:

Until early in the morning. The chairs were completely sanded, and repainted....

But then, my little mouse sander gave up the ghost... after only three months, and I had to wait to go out to church so I could get the receipt out of the bag of trash up there.... Thank the Lord, we didn't throw anything away yet!!!!

Here's how the chairs look now, but they need to be roughed up a little too...

WooHOO!!!! And I even got the dresser drawer pulls double coated!!

I was only able to get one coat of the blue lettering done on Knock this Wednesday:

And I was unable to do the white coat on the K. BUT, We get to go to church tomorrow and paint the ceiling white, get the room cleaned out, and get the walls painted on Wednesday, and the "Seek and ye shall find" statement traced up on the last wall. And sand the mirror.

I did not finish the 100 THM pages, actually, only a measly 30, but I have been looking through and making a ton of new recipes... Although I was very bad at the end of the week when the boys were away.

All in all, I had a fairly useful week!! Now to plan this next one.  Sorry I was late getting this out. Thanks for keeping me accountable again.

Goals For the week up to September 28th

Okay:

1) Practice the piano

2) Use the Brain every day

3) Finish School every day

4) Figure out, re-sew, paint, staple, and finish the chairs for the prayer room. Mostly, the larger one just has the bottom to be sanded. The smaller one is still as it was...

5) Finish Knock and it shall be opened.

6) Hopefully, repaint the ceiling in the prayer room, get the chandelier hung, and give the blue wall a second coat....Oh, and sand the mirror.

7) Read at least 100 pages of THM.... And make some more meals.

Seven is a good number... Wish me luck, and see the three of you next week.

Ask and It Shall be Given

So, I found out just how desperately I need my "Brain."

I didn't finish the dresser, because, I forgot the knobs at church on Sunday.... Brought them home Wednesday, but forgot the sander... Brought that home today, but mostly worked on the chairs.

I finished the Ask statement. Here's the way it looks finished!

The Knock statement probably looks the same to you, but it is painted twice in brown, and the "and it shall be opened" is traced up on the wall too... You probably can see it if you look closely:

Looking at the picture, I feel like I need to make the "N" better... it looks wimpy next to the others....

I wanted to bring home the chairs on Sunday to work on them all week. I didn't write it down, so I forgot! GRRRRR!! I did, however, have the things for the seat cushion, so I tore the cushions apart and started by tearing the pillow shams apart.... trying to figure out how to make them work well on the chairs still....

So, I wrote down on Wednesday that I needed to bring the chairs home... and I remembered the paint, and the handles, and the chairs.... and forgot the sander..... So I picked that up today instead. YAY!

Here's what we were able to get done between my wonderful sons on Wednesday afternoon while I painted, and me today with my middle Joe-Bob.

I did not read as much of the THM book as I wanted, but I did make quite a few new recipes, and poked around on the Facebook page and found out more information... And I fit into and closed a shirt that I haven't been able to wear closed since two years ago...

However, I did not practice the piano the way I wanted to. GRR!!! I really plan to do that better this week.

We did finish every day of homeschool.... AND I printed everything we need for next week AND cleaned up their folders... AND cleaned up the house!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Thanks, as always, for being my inspiration and my Kick in the rear!!

This Week's Plan.... Before September 21st

Is it really already mid September?????? That seems so impossible!!!!! I want to slow time down, and it feels like it is spinning out of control.

For this week, I want to do a few things....

1) Actually completely finish the dresser for at church.

2) Finish getting Ask, and Knock statements on the wall, fully painted, and the final coats done.

3) Work on these old chairs that I found and make them beautifully distressed with a white coat that matches the dresser.....

And also recover the seat cushions with these beautiful shams I found....

To cover up this uglyness (It is a drab olive green color):

4) I also want to read THM, finishing at LEAST 5 more chapters... and I want to practice the piano every night that Doug is not here!! (My plucking bothers him, I am looking forward to being able to actually play!!)
5) Once again, I want a full week of homeschool.... we're going for a brand new habit!!!
6) Whip my house into shape with the help of my sons (hopefully, this will happen on Monday, and I can focus on all this other stuff the rest of the week!!)

I have so much more spinning in my brain, but this sounds like enough to keep me busy til next week.... Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful week!!!

Things I Accomplished this Week

This week, I grew up a year.... I had a birthday. It was a wonderful one, and I got a brand new Bible from my parents . I love it... I had picked it out a while ago, but forgot about it.

I love it!!!

I did not finish Trim Healthy Mama.... but I did make some new recipes from it, and I did buy a lot of new things that I needed to get to try some new recipes. For that, I am excited!!

I did work on the dresser at church, and I have two coats of poly on the top.... but I forgot to take a picture. Grr...... It looks really pretty, though!!!

I did print all the statements for on the prayer room wall... Apparently, the design in my head had already been put on my computer a while ago! Who knew?? I also traced up Ask,

This one is closer to the right color on the wall:

and Knock has its first brown coat up....

and the smaller things (and ye shall receive... and ye shall find) are also traced up, although one is at a slight angle and I'm going to have to do it again. The "Seek" wall is waiting for the paint to be fixed and a big hole to be finished patching...

I used my entire birthday to do research I needed to do for health food stuff... I now know WHAT I need to buy, and have it all saved to a wish list... but now I have to wait for the money to pay for the things I need to buy.... at least they are now saved so I can find them.

I have done much toward my Thirty-One party, now to get it finished. I have to get things sent off, and more phone calls made.

We also finished homeschool all this week. Woohoo!!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment here!!! Okay, just re-read what I wrote... We DO finish homeschool each year, but I am a terrible fit-starter.... We do school every day but Sunday for ten weeks straight, til we're "caught up", then I end up missing three days, we're behind again, and it goes downhill from there. We finished this last school year in late-mid August. I am thoroughly enjoying our new curriculum!! The boys are enjoying it, and it doesn't take so much time and energy to teach them. LOVE IT!!!

I will post tomorrow of all the things that need to be done this next week.... thanks for being my inspiration!!!!

Plans for this week, before September 14th

For this week, I have big plans. This is my birthday week!!! We also get paid this week!! WOOHOO!!!

So, first, I want to finish Trim Healthy Mama. I want to feel confident in how I am preparing meals. I also have to get to their Facebook page and ask a lot of questions... I need to get that done too.

Second, I want to finish the dresser/ entry table for the prayer room at church.

Third, I want to design, print, and blow up/ trace the three statements I want on the wall of the prayer room. "Ask, and it shall be given," "Seek, and ye shall find," "Knock, and it shall be opened." I figure I can at least get these up while waiting for the ceiling to be finished.

Fourth, I want to research all the health food things I need to buy... not just for the THM diet, but also for the cough/ cold tea my friend makes.

Fifth, I am planning/ throwing a Thirty-One party this week. I have to keep that organized and put together... I am sending some things to my sister out of state, so things should be very interesting.

Those things, plus homeschooling this week and keeping up with the house should be enough to occupy my time this week.

See you in a week!!

The Boy's Bathroom is FINISHED

Finishing feels wonderful... Okay, so I have some strings to cut... let's be totally honest, but the tie-backs turned out cute and the strings aren't going anywhere... eventually, I'll be sitting in that room with nothing to do.... LOL.

The tie-backs are really cute, and not too overdone... I think.

And the whole bathroom ties together... even the towels.

This week, I got my birthday present... a little early....

A brand new Daytimer.... I haven't had one since college!!! This one is set up for mommies and the way they have to plan.  After moving from my "Brain," which was simply a spiral notebook where I wrote everything down, it has been interesting learning how and where to write everything in... but other than Thursday, when I was so sick I didn't even look at it, I used this all week.

The dresser that we're using for an entry table down at church didn't get as much work as I would have liked, but it's looking a lot further along.

There are two screws missing, and the handle that I had sanded won't fit on the front... but it is coming along. I need to rough it up a lot more, but it's looking a little weathered and ready for a rustic looking room.

The dresser has come a long way from when it was all the same color as the mirror laying on top here. I still need to sand the mirror down, but I am going to try to simply seal the top and keep the color of the wood that it is now. I love it that way.

As for Trim Healthy Mama, I read another 5 chapters, and am almost to the point where they start sharing recipes. I am not quite finished yet, but it is coming along.

I did start putting something together for my Master Bed Room. I know I am going with a beachy theme, and I have a lot of pictures in one document to help me start the plans, but I don't want to post them here, since each one belongs to someone else's blog or website.

Thanks again for the "knowing SOMEBODY would read this this week" and that I wanted to have something to show for my week. It helped me to do a lot more.

This Week's Plans... Before September 6th

The things I want to have something to show for next week are these...

First, I want to finish the tie-backs for the boys bathroom and have it absolutely completed before Friday..

Second, I have been reading Trim Healthy Mama by Pearl Barrett & Serene Allison... there is an amazing review here and another one here.  This week, I intend to finish it, and be able to intelligently put it into practice.

Third, I need to start into something for my bedroom.... I'll get plans together for what I could do to decorate it... while I am planning that, I have a room down at church, a prayer room, that needs some work... So...

Fourth, my goal is to finish the dresser that will act as an entry table, and sand the mirror that will go on the wall above....

If all those things get done this week, it will be perfect. I'll try to have pictures of what I've done....

Until then,

Becky

One week later.... I'm a little late....

I am still not quite done... But I did get way more done than in the year and a half before this that I planned on doing this.

Here is what I started with. I had painted the bathroom back.... oh, six months ago. It's a nice pale yellow, but it looks really good with the frogs.

Although the wall looks green, it really is a pale yellow...... This is a curtain I made a few weeks ago, and I love the way it looks....but there was still a lot that needed to be done to make the bathroom look finished.

The curtain on the right has been made since I was at my mom's over Christmas this last year.... It's been sitting there waiting on a mate.

I had planned to make the curtains to this point and be done, but it just looked incomplete so I decided to add to it.

It doesn't look a whole lot different, but the blue strip at the top adds a little to it, I think.

Here's the way it looks hung up. I did double button holes for each place the hangers go through so they seem almost invisible. I love the look of them.

It looks really cute with the frogs.... I need to make tiebacks, though. I've started them, but not quite finished yet...

Here's the way it looks all together. Very happy with the results so far.... still have a little bit left, but definitely getting there.

I'll get my weekly goals out next.... Thanks for being my inspiration for kicking my rear in gear this week.
